We returned to Old Deer Park this week so The Son could run and tick the course off his parkrun location completed list. I ran here a few weeks back as part of an Eagles vs Barnes Runners mob match but The Son had a cold so was our official photographer for the day instead.
We once again made the short drive to the car park opposite the park and only made two return trips to the car as we realised that we had left our gloves behind. The course was still being setup so we went for a short jog to warm-up and then joined the rest of the runners as they made the short walk to the start line (one of the tennis court poles).
The Son once again wanted to run by himself so I went off trying to hit a pace for a 23 minute finish and I tagged onto a couple of guys just ahead of me. The course is 99% grass and the top section still had some muddy sections so I did feel a bit like I was running cross-country again.
I was close to my 23 minute pacing and waited to cheer The Son finish his run before heading home.
